Beneficio Las Lajas – Origin of Our Black Honey Processed Coffee

Owned by husband-wife team Oscar Chacón and Francisca Cubillo, Beneficio Las Lajas ranks as one of the most progressive, high-quality coffee mills in all of Costa Rica.

Las Lajas specializes in several different types of honey-processed coffees as well as natural process, and Black Honey refers to a method by which 100 percent of the mucilage is left after depulping and the coffee is turned once per day while drying. This technique allows the fruit more time to penetrate the coffee’s parchment layer, imparting a very sweet and unique profile.

Having sourced Black Honey for several years in a row, we like the the dried fruit, dark chocolate, and grapefruit flavors and the silky body that we find in this year’s selection. We’re excited to offer Costa Rica Las Lajas Black Honey as a Featured Farm coffee, available August 6, 2018 – August 12, 2018.
