TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). It began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
This year marks the 30th anniversary for TED, and the theme for 2014 is simply this: “The Next Chapter.” Presenters will focus on the most significant developments in the past 30 years and applying that knowledge to understand what’s ahead.
Our very own Barista Trainer Cody Kinart was selected as the Lead at this month’s 2014 TED Active coffee bar in Whistler, British Columbia, where he’ll work with a small team of the country’s best baristas!
This is Cody’s second year at TED, and the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) has established an unparalleled coffee service for a very dynamic audience. We’re thrilled to be a part of the event!
ABOUT CODY: Cody started as a barista with high hopes at Colectivo’s Lakefront cafe in 2008. He moved his way up working as a shift leader, then Lightning Rod, and eventually full-time Barista Trainer. Most recently, Cody has taken a position as Wholesale Sales Representative for Colectivo where he enjoys the challenge of educating a wider spectrum of coffee drinkers. Aside from his coffee work here at CCR, Cody volunteers for the Specialty Coffee Association of America as a certified Lead Instructor, a certified Lead Examiner, and is on the Professional Development Subcommittee.
